So I am looking for a John, a Jim, a Greg, and a Mycroft.
So Sherlock is 17, and is at a boarding school and thinks it is extremely boring. He's in his bad teenage years. You know when he did drugs and really pretty much thought life sucks, people suck, I suck.
John his roommate is Sherlock's only friend. He starts to notice slight changes in his friends behaviors and finds the drugs, and manages to talk to Sherlock about not doing said drugs. But that pisses off Sherlock's drug dealer.
Jim Moriarty is Sherlock's drug dealer. If you get the idea he is there to ruin happiness and joy you are correct. The happiness and joy is because a litte thing that a friend of both Sherlock and John knows and trusts.
Greg Lestrade is told by both Sherlock and John they have feelings for the other. (If that was confusing Johnlock also little note. There can be one sided Jimlock/Sheriarty if the Jim wishes) Greg then provides to hint at the boys that they like each other, but the boys don't get it.
Mycroft is there to do Mycrofty things. He has the ability to be left out. But I feel like both John and Greg would go to him for advice on Sherlock.
